Mission Statement_

Our favourite Music Videos are those which show emotion through character. Matching or contradicting what the song is telling us. These are the videos that we constantly return to, as they enhance the musical experience.
Narrative vs Abstract. There must be some kind of narrative, no matter how weak. This means that the concept can be largely abstract but something has to tie it together and show progression.
Location vs Studio. Everything is to be shot on location unless a set can be built that replicates the feel of a real space. No multicoloured backdrops.
Cast. Models get enough work. The character's face or body has to tell me something about the emotion.
Aspect Ratio. No 2.35:1 aspect ratio, this isn’t Lawerence of Arabia. People will watch this on phones and laptops, screen space is real estate.

How Did This Happen_

Hael and Kordas met in film school where they made a film called "The Milk Spy". Later, they formed MilkyBrain, aiming to create music videos that they would enjoy watching. They hate pretentious art.

What's Next_

MilkyBrain will be making 12 music videos in the next 12 months. If you are an artist interested in collaborating, please get in touch:

Why Music Videos_

Hael - Music videos are short so people will watch them and I want people to watch my work. I find it very satisfying when the song matches with a visual that makes me feel that moment in the song even more. It’s so saturated now that you have to make like 5 good videos for anyone to care about you, which is difficult.

But I’m okay with that, I’m young, now is the time to have weeks with no sleep and not eat well. When I'm 40 with kids I’ll think differently. I won’t stop until everyone has seen at least one of my music videos.

Kordas - Few forms of visual art are as versatile as music videos. They exist on the cutting edge of visual language making them an ideal vehicle for reaching a wider audience than it's longer-form counterparts. Also, I like working with Michael.
